In 1979, twenty physicians joined together to build a hospital that would serve the healthcare needs of their community. Since then, Southwest General has expanded to 289-beds.

Southwest General offers comprehensive healthcare services, including a strong surgery program, advanced diagnostics and imaging, wound care and hyperbaric services. The hospital has a busy emergency medicine program, and recently expanded its ER to better serve the community.

The BirthPlace at Southwest General is one of the busiest maternity programs in the area. It nearly doubled in size in 2002, and is once again expanding in size, to care for more mothers and babies.
