In 1971, Memorial Hospital of Tampa, originally known as Tampa Care, opened as an extended care facility with a 44-bed psychiatric unit. With the addition of two surgical suites and inpatient radiology, Memorial was converted to a 140-bed general acute care hospital in 1972.

Memorial Hospital is now a general, acute-care, medical/surgical facility with 180 licensed beds. The hospital, located in a premier South Tampa area, offers specialty services such as the Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation, the Cardiovascular Health Center, the Women's Imaging Center, the Memorial Diagnostic Center, and the Memory Center. Memorial provides a broad range of medical and surgical care, including cardiology, orthopedics, pulmonary medicine, critical care, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services, 24-hour emergency care, general surgery, and outpatient surgery and diagnostics.
