A New Partnership
By David White, Chairman and CEO
After months of work and negotiations, we have finally completed our partnership agreement with TPG. During this time we have been able to determine that we are dealing with a very good group of folks who have a genuine interest in helping our company achieve its goals of quality performance, both from a clinical as well as a financial standpoint. A brief look at some other companies that TPG has previously or presently owned reveals an impressive list of names: Continental Airlines, America West Airlines, Oxford Health Plans, J. Crew, Berenger Wines, Burger King, Del Monte and Seagate just to name a few.
I am very pleased that they have selected our company as the best hospital services company in which to make a sizable financial commitment. I am sure they will be as pleased with us as we are with them.
Welcome to IASIS, TPG!
Investors Complete Acquisition of IASIS
A group of investors, led by Texas Pacific Group (TPG), has completed its acquisition of IASIS Healthcare. The transaction, valued at about $1.4 billion, will give IASIS greater access to capital for investments in its existing hospitals and to selectively pursue acquisitions. "This is an important milestone for our company," said David White, Chairman and CEO. "Already, we have a strong foundation in place at IASIS, and now we have the opportunity to further build on our success."

North Vista Hospital is New Name of Las Vegas Facility
IASIS President and COO Sandra McRee presents Lynda Neal with a $500 check for her winning entry in the hospital naming contest.
|
North Vista Hospital is the new name of the IASIS hospital in Nevada. The name replaces Lake Mead Hospital Medical Center. North Vista was selected from over 250 name submissions in a hospital naming contest for employees. Lynda Neal, RN, who works in outpatient surgery, submitted the winning entry and won a $500 prize. "We selected the name because the word north represents our geographic location in North Las Vegas and our position in the greater Las Vegas area. The Spanish word vista was chosen because it can mean view or vision. We selected vista because there are views of the surrounding mountains from our patient rooms, and there is a new vision for the future of the hospital," said Craig Preston, North Vista CEO.

President Pushes for Computerized Health Records
President Bush has a goal - he wants most Americans to have electronic health records in the next 10 years. That has hospitals, doctors and other healthcare providers scrambling to figure out how to move medical records from tons of paper to the computer. But, IASIS hospitals are already well on their way to achieving this goal. As part of the company's $30 million investment in advanced clinical technology, IASIS hospitals will begin using computerized charting. "It's going to improve patient safety and make our access to patient records faster, easier, and more complete," said Cathy Story, Chief Nursing Officer of IASIS. "For example, if a patient who has been seen at the hospital previously comes into the ER, we'll be able to pull up the chart on the computer and see the medical history immediately."
